Book Project
Projects Due Friday, November 14th
* All projects should be in final draft form.
Have 2-3 people edit/revise for you so you have a good final copy
(you do NOT need to complete a revision sheet).
* Handwrite neatly in ink or type (double space; size 12 or 14; simple font).
* Will be graded on –
Ideas and Content
Ability to follow project guidelines
Conventions (spelling, grammar, punctuation)
* Project must be on a book off Ms. Sween’s list. You MAY turn projects in early.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose one of the five projects listed below or come up with your own project idea (be sure to get it approved be Ms. Sween in advance).
1- Write an alternate (better?) ending for the novel.
For this assignment write 2-3 paragraphs summarizing how the novel ends. Next rewrite the ending – should be 250 – 500 words in length.
2- Write a short story based upon the same theme, subject or characters as the novel that you read.
This story should be 300 – 600 words in length.
3- Find or write songs or poems that relate to the theme or subject of your novel. Write out the words/lyrics and then explain how they relate to your novel.
For this assignment start with an introduction: explain the theme or subject of your novel, what songs/poems you have chosen or written and why. (2-3 paragraphs in length)
Next write out the song lyrics and/or poem (a photocopy or print-out off the internet is fine). You should have at least two selections (2 songs, 2 poems, or one of each).
Finally, explain how these songs and/or poems relate to your novel. (150-300 words in length).
4- Pretend to interview one of the characters and then write out your interview.
Start with an introduction paragraph explaining who you are interviewing and how they are important in the novel. Now write at least ten questions and answers. Be sure your questions are those that have more than just a one-word answer (your questions should be related to events in the novel).
5- Write a newspaper story about what happened at the end or during a part of your novel This will be a news story. Include a picture.
Write this article as if you are a reporter – telling what happened. Choose an important event or series of events in the story. Be sure to explain setting (where or when) and the characters you are writing about. Then describe the event(s) in great detail. Needs to be 200 – 400 words in length. Draw a picture that relates to your article. Picture should be in color.
